BUZZY TOPIC 1. OpenAI launches ChatGPT Agent, Pilots “Study Together” Mode

OpenAI’s launched Agent capabilities in ChatGPT this week, which include the ability to perform agentic (read: autonomous and empowered across tools and domains) work within Excel, Powerpoint, calendars, coding platforms, and more.

In even more Edtech-specific news, ChatGPT is testing a ‘study together’ mode, which may mirror some of the functionality of Anthropic’s ‘learning mode’, turning ChatGPT into a tutor/partner.

BUZZY TOPIC 2. Brisk Teaching, Magic School AI and SchoolAI Tease Expanded Features

Google dropped a bomb in AI in education a couple of weeks ago with over 50 simultaneous announcements at ISTE about Classroom, Notebooks, Chrombooks, translation and more. This had both Edtech pros and educators alike wondering about whether there was room in the classroom for multiple AI tool suites.

This week, fast growth AI-native incumbents like Brisk Teaching, School AI and Magic School said: “hold my beer,” each announcing major updates to their platforms with expanded capabilities to expand their reach and value to teachers.
